Borussia Dortmund has officially announced the loan of Julien Duranville to FC Basel. This confirmation aligns with earlier reports from sources such as Get German Football News and Ruhr Nachrichten regarding the specifics of the arrangement.

While FC Basel has secured Duranville on loan, the club does not hold a purchase option for the 19-year-old. However, they have included a resale clause should Dortmund decide to sell the talented attacker in the future.

Sebastian Kehl, Dortmund’s sporting director, commented on the move: “Julien has been with us in Dortmund for three years, but he is still a very young player in whom we continue to see great potential. Unfortunately, due to injuries among other factors, he has not been able to showcase his talent and abilities to the extent we had hoped.”

Kehl further stated, “The transition to FC Basel provides him with the opportunity to gain regular playing experience and further develop his skills. We are confident that this step is beneficial for his future with BVB. We wish him all the best during his time in Basel.”

Daniel Stucki, sporting director of FC Basel, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “We are delighted to have successfully convinced Julien to join Basel on loan, as it is not common for a player from a top club like Dortmund to move to Switzerland. He is an exceptional dribbler and an explosive winger, having received excellent training at Anderlecht.”

Stucki added, “At Borussia Dortmund, he recently had limited playing time, but with us, he will have the opportunity to play regularly. For a young player, gaining experience at the highest level is crucial for advancing at a top club. We are convinced that Julien will make a significant impact as early as Sunday.”

Duranville himself expressed his excitement about the loan, stating, “I am very pleased that the loan to FC Basel has come through. I had a strong feeling from the start, and it quickly became clear to me that I wanted to pursue this opportunity. I have heard great things about the atmosphere at St. Jakob Park, and I am thrilled to be joining the team tomorrow.”
