Borussia Mönchengladbach has confirmed the transfer of midfielder Charles Herrmann to Cercle Brugge for a reported fee of €1 million.

According to Kicker, the Bundesliga club may also receive additional funds through performance-related bonuses associated with the young midfielder’s future achievements. At just 20 years of age, Herrmann has made only one brief appearance in the Bundesliga, totaling six minutes of play. However, he gained notable recognition in the German football media after assisting a dramatic late equalizer during the debut match of head coach Eurgen Polanski.

Although he has not featured in further games, Polanski’s continuous praise has significantly raised Herrmann’s profile within the sport.

The BMG administrative team, led by Rouven Schröder, is keen to offload more players before the transfer window closes. However, rumors surrounding other players like Marvin Friedrich, Luca Netz, and Grant Leon-Ranos have dwindled. Herrmann’s departure may mark the final exit from Gladbach this transfer period.

To date, Danish midfielder Oscar Fraulo has been the only other player to bring in revenue for Gladbach this January, transferring to Derby County for €400,000. Loan arrangements for Tomas Cvancara to Celtic and Jonas Omlin to Bayer Leverkusen did not yield any reported fees.

In a statement, Schröder expressed: “Charles is a talented young man who wanted more playing time with the pros. We haven’t been able to offer him that so far, and due to the competitive situation, we can’t guarantee that in the medium term either. The move to Bruges is thus a good solution for all parties involved. We wish Charles all the best in the future.”
