omidbasir- Borussia Mönchengladbach’s head coach, Eugen Polanski, did not hide his frustration following his team’s recent disappointing performance in the Bundesliga. The 3-0 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt leaves the club without a victory in their last six outings. After an impressive start to 2026 with a commanding 4-0 home win against Augsburg, the team has struggled significantly, suffering three heavy losses and managing only three low-scoring draws since then.

Currently, with 22 points accumulated from 22 Bundesliga matches, Gladbach has fallen to 13th place in the standings. The team’s recent performances are reflected in a concerning aggregate score of 3-13 over the last six games, indicating a lack of offensive effectiveness and a defense that has proven to be alarmingly vulnerable. Although opponent Mario Götze acknowledged Gladbach’s possession and efforts, Polanski’s outlook remained bleak.

“I’m extremely frustrated today because this defeat was entirely unnecessary and avoidable,” Polanski stated in his opening remarks. “It’s disheartening to see us execute our game plan well between the penalty boxes, yet struggle more than our opponents within both penalty areas; this is something we can control.”

“The issue today was one of quality,” Polanski continued. “Despite having a 20-12 advantage in shots, we only managed to get three on target, greatly diminishing our chances of scoring. In contrast, Frankfurt successfully directed eight of their 12 attempts towards goal.”

“We truly suffered today, as there was much more to be gained from this match,” Polanski summarized. “Consequently, I’m very frustrated.”

In response to a subsequent question, Polanski remarked, “We found ourselves in the opponent’s box numerous times. However, our delivery was poor; simple crosses failed to connect with our target men, and we hesitated too long before shooting. These issues stem from fundamental mistakes, and I don’t need statistics to validate that.”

“There’s no point in dwelling on ‘could-have, would-have, should-have’ scenarios,” he added. “We simply did not execute, and it is crucial that we make improvements.”

“The work we put in during training must be translated into our game-day performances,” Polanski emphasized later. “The players are aware of what they squandered today. I don’t need to elaborate; it’s all in their minds. If they can achieve some early success in matches, their confidence will improve.”
