Borussia M nchengladbach s Struggles Deepen Under PolanskiBorussia M nchengladbach s Struggles Deepen Under Polanski

omidbasir- Eugen Polanski, the head coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach, did not hold back his disappointment following his team’s latest Bundesliga performance, culminating in a 3-0 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt. This loss extends the foals’ winless streak to six matches. After starting 2026 with an impressive 4-0 home victory against Augsburg, the team has since struggled, registering three heavy losses and three low-scoring draws.

Currently, Borussia Mönchengladbach has accumulated just 22 points across 22 Bundesliga matches, resulting in a drop to 13th place in the league standings. The statistics reveal a troubling aggregate score of 3-13 over the past six games, highlighting significant issues in both offensive productivity and defensive stability. Despite Mario Götze’s acknowledgment of Gladbach’s possession and attempts on goal, Polanski’s remarks reflected a more somber outlook.

“I’m extremely frustrated today because this defeat was completely unnecessary and avoidable,” Polanski stated in his initial comments. “It is disheartening to execute our plans well between the penalty areas yet fall short in both boxes; that’s something we can control.”

Polanski emphasized the importance of quality in performance: “Even with a 20-12 shot advantage, converting only three attempts on target drastically reduces our chances of scoring. In contrast, Frankfurt managed to place eight of their 12 attempts on target.”

“We truly suffered today, as there was so much more to offer in this match,” he added, clearly dissatisfied with the outcome.

In response to a follow-up inquiry, Polanski remarked, “We found ourselves in the opponent’s box numerous times. However, we failed to connect with simple crosses and hesitated too long to shoot. This issue pertains to the fundamentals, and I shouldn’t need to cite statistics to illustrate that.”

“There’s no point in dwelling on ‘could-have, would-have, should-have’ scenarios,” Polanski continued. “We simply did not execute and must make improvements.”

He concluded with a focus on the need for practical application: “We practice effectively in training, but it’s crucial to implement that on match day. The players are aware of what they squandered. There’s no need for me to reiterate it; it’s all in their minds. If they can experience success early in the match, their confidence will improve.”
