Bradford City has denounced the “abhorrent” racist abuse directed at defender Curtis Tilt following their away match against Huddersfield Town.

The club reported that the 34-year-old was targeted by a supporter in the home section as he exited the pitch after their 1-0 defeat at the Accu Stadium.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed that the incident has been reported by the referee and an investigation is underway. “We are investigating a racially-aggravated public order offence, and inquiries are ongoing with both clubs to identify the individual involved,” the police stated.

In their official statement, Bradford City pledged to “cooperate fully” with all investigations and extend support to Tilt, who was “allegedly subjected to abhorrent discrimination.” The club emphasized, “We condemn all racist abuse in the strongest possible terms.”

Huddersfield Town also issued a statement acknowledging the alleged incident and expressed their commitment to assist the appropriate authorities and officials. They reiterated, “Huddersfield Town does not tolerate discrimination or anti-social behaviour of any kind.”

Curtis Tilt, a Jamaican international, joined Bradford City from Salford City on a two-year contract in June. He has previously played for Blackpool, Rotherham, and Wigan.
