Bundesliga Matches Rescheduled Due to Weather ConditionsBundesliga Matches Rescheduled Due to Weather Conditions

This past weekend, two Bundesliga matches were postponed due to inclement weather conditions. The Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) has confirmed that these matches will be made up on Tuesday, January 27th, at 20:30. The rescheduling poses no significant issues for the four clubs involved, as none are competing in European tournaments this season. St. Pauli is set to host Leipzig, while Werder Bremen will welcome Hoffenheim during the same week as the final matchdays of the Champions League and Europa League.

Among the four clubs affected, St. Pauli faces the most significant impact from the rescheduling. Coach Alexander Blessin’s team is scheduled to play against Hamburger SV in a city derby on the weekend of January 23rd. Following their makeup match against Leipzig four days later, the ‘Boys in Brown’ will travel to Augsburg for another Bundesliga fixture. St. Pauli will then have a busy schedule with a DFB quarterfinal match against Bayer Leverkusen on February 3rd.

Leipzig, on the other hand, will not face the strain of two ‘English weeks,’ as their cup fixture against Bayern is slated for February 11th. Both Bremen and Hoffenheim have also been eliminated from Germany’s domestic cup. The DFL’s decision to reschedule these Bundesliga matches has been facilitated by the absence of European obligations for all four teams, making this the first adjustment in Bundesliga match scheduling since January 2024 relatively straightforward.
