The Bundesliga made its return following the international break, with Mainz and Hoffenheim settling for a 1-1 draw. Notably, Dominik Kohr’s red card established him as the player with the most sendings off in the league’s history.

Saturday’s fixtures showcased exceptional talent, featuring Borussia Dortmund hosting VfB Stuttgart, Bayern Munich facing Freiburg, Borussia Mönchengladbach visiting Heidenheim, Augsburg against Hamburg, and Wolfsburg clashing with Bayer Leverkusen.

Karl has recently garnered attention for his standout performances early in his Bayern Munich career, even scoring during the international break against Malta. On this match day, he demonstrated his potential magnificently.

Bayern found themselves 2-0 down against Freiburg within the first 20 minutes, conceding two goals from corners, just days before their clash with Arsenal. However, Karl, alongside Michael Olise, turned the tide for the Bundesliga leaders, as the pair exchanged goals and assists, leveling the game at 2-2 just before halftime.

The Frenchman went on to provide two additional assists and netted his second goal of the match, propelling Bayern to a commanding 6-2 victory over the Breisgau Brazilians, reminiscent of Brazil’s style in 2014.

At just 17 years old, Karl has recorded two goals and two assists in nine Bundesliga appearances, showcasing a greater impact on the team than his predecessor in the number 42 shirt had upon his debut.

With Jamal Musiala’s return on the horizon, it will be intriguing to see how Bayern manages playing time for Karl as they compete on multiple fronts alongside Olise and Luis Diaz.

Undav, previously omitted from the Germany squad due to injury, has demonstrated his return to form with impressive performances since his comeback. Stuttgart appeared to be on the brink of defeat as Borussia Dortmund took a 2-0 lead, but Undav’s double seemed to salvage a point for the team. Even after Karim Adeyemi scored in the 89th minute to put Dortmund ahead, Undav calmly converted to equalize in the 91st minute, ending the match at 3-3.

Since returning from injury, the 29-year-old striker has scored seven goals in eight competitive matches. With Ermedin Demirovic absent, Undav has stepped up significantly for Stuttgart, bolstered by the contributions of standout signings like Bilal El Khannouss and revitalized German players such as Maximilian Mittelstädt and Chris Führich.

Meanwhile, Borussia Mönchengladbach has made an impressive turnaround, going from winless until November to securing three consecutive Bundesliga victories, establishing the longest active win streak in the league. Under the recent appointment of Eugen Polanski as their permanent head coach, the team’s transformation from underperformers to a form team in the Bundesliga is commendable.

This latest victory marks the first time since 2017 that Gladbach has won four competitive matches in a row. Haris Tabakovic continues to emerge as one of the league’s top strikers, signaling a positive trajectory for the team.

Gladbach’s next significant challenge awaits them next Friday against RB Leipzig.
