omidbasir- Carlo Ancelotti is set to sign a contract extension with Brazil’s Football Confederation, ensuring his role as head coach through the 2030 World Cup in the coming weeks.

According to ESPN, the esteemed Italian manager reached a verbal agreement for a new four-year contract back in December.

Notably, the new deal will not include a salary increase for Ancelotti, who currently holds the title of the highest-paid coach in the history of the national team, earning €10 million (approximately $12 million) annually. However, adjustments will be made to the salaries of his four coaching staff members.

An official announcement regarding the contract extension is anticipated before Ancelotti names his squad on March 16 for upcoming international friendlies against France and Croatia, set to take place in the United States.

At 66 years old, Ancelotti conveyed to ESPN in September his aspiration to extend his contract until 2030. He assumed leadership of Brazil’s national team after departing from Real Madrid in May 2025.

His objective is to lead Brazil to their sixth World Cup title in 2026, as the nation has not lifted the trophy since 2002. The closest they have come since then was a fourth-place finish in 2014 when they hosted the tournament.

Under Ancelotti’s guidance, Brazil has achieved four wins, two draws, and two losses across eight matches. He is currently in the process of finalizing his World Cup squad.

“In my first press conference, I mentioned that Brazil is fortunate to have many talented players,” Ancelotti remarked recently.

“The list isn’t finalized yet, but we are nearing the final selection. There are still some positions that remain undecided.”

Brazil will host France in Boston on March 26 and will face Croatia in Orlando on March 31. Ancelotti’s squad is set to commence their World Cup journey against Morocco on June 13, alongside matches against Scotland and Haiti in Group C.
