Aalbers believes that NEC has a strong chance of competing effectively in the Eredivisie. Notably, standout player Kodai Sano has attracted interest from several clubs. “If the squad stays the same, we can aim for fourth place,” Aalbers stated in an interview with De Gelderlander. “Whether it was against Ajax at home, Feyenoord away, AZ at home, or FC Utrecht away, I noticed little difference in quality compared to our opponents. We can compete with these clubs, so we are allowed to dream and strive for that fourth position. However, our primary objective remains qualifying for the play-offs for European football.”
