As reported by MARCA yesterday, Real Betis is now able to count on Cédric Bakambu. The Congolese player rejoined the club after his national team was eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations last Tuesday, conceding a last-minute goal to Algeria in extra time. He is now focused on the upcoming commitments for his team and potential market movements this January.

This morning, Bakambu was spotted on the training grounds of the Ciudad Deportiva Luis del Sol, where his teammates welcomed him with a traditional guard of honor. However, he did not participate in group training and, following a discussion with coach Pellegrini, he retreated to the indoor facilities. Consequently, Bakambu has only tomorrow’s training session to demonstrate to the coaching staff whether he is fit to be included in the squad for the league match against Oviedo on Saturday or if he should rest in preparation for the Copa del Rey.

This morning’s gym session means Bakambu joins fellow absentees on the training field, including Isco Alarcón, who is still in recovery, and two other international players, Moroccan teammates Amrabat and Abde, who are competing in the Africa Cup of Nations. They will face Cameroon at 20:00 local time tomorrow at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, as they vie for a spot in the semifinals.
