Celta s Mid Season Performance and Future AspirationsCelta s Mid Season Performance and Future Aspirations

Celta concluded the first half of the season with five more points than in the previous year, amassing a total of 29 points. Notably, two-thirds of these points have come from away matches, where they have secured 18 points compared to just 11 at home.

While the main objective, as emphasized by Claudio Giráldez, is to achieve league survival—preferably without undue stress—reaching the 13 points needed for virtual safety seems achievable in the second half, barring any significant setbacks.

Therefore, the aspiration is to regain the prestigious performance level of previous seasons. To do so, Celta must strengthen their home performance at Balaídos, where they have recently made a turnaround with victories against Athletic and Valencia. It’s worth noting that, apart from Real Madrid, the top eight teams have already visited Vigo.

In the second half, the teams visiting Balaídos will include Real Madrid, Rayo, Osasuna, Mallorca, Alavés, Oviedo, Elche, Levante, and Sevilla. This presents a potentially more favorable schedule for Celta’s interests.

Last season, Giráldez’s team accumulated 36 points at home, a figure that seems nearly unattainable this year since they would have to avoid any draws at home for the rest of the season to match it. Conversely, they are on the verge of surpassing the points they earned as visitors throughout the entire last season.
