Celta s Winter Market Strategy Assessing Player OpportunitiesCelta s Winter Market Strategy Assessing Player Opportunities

Celta has a large squad of 28 players to navigate both La Liga and the Europa League. The primary objective for the winter transfer window is to trim this roster while also freeing up space for potential new signings, though the club views any additions as neither urgent nor likely.

In this context, three players will be showcased for potential transfer. Damián is one of them; both the club and coaching staff have faith in the young talent and believe he should receive more playing time, which he currently lacks in the first team. This trust is evident as Claudio Giráldez, the head coach, took Damián under his wing upon his promotion to the senior squad.

However, Damián’s appearances this season have been minimal, with only two matches in La Liga, three in the Europa League, and one in the Copa, where he scored a goal. His total playing time amounts to just 377 minutes.

In stark contrast, Cervi and Marc Vidal find themselves in a different situation, as neither has been deemed essential to the team. The Argentine forward, whose contract expires in June, has no intentions of leaving Vigo but has played only 12 minutes in one Europa League match and 153 minutes across two Copa matches, without any participation in La Liga.

Meanwhile, Marc Vidal remains the only player in the first team yet to make his debut. With Radu firmly established as the starting goalkeeper and Iván Villar available for emergencies, there is little need for the current third-choice keeper.

Another player under consideration is Aidoo, as the club believes he could contribute in the second half of the season, despite having participated in just four matches—two in La Liga and two in the Copa—due to his non-registration in the Europa League.
