Celtic FC has suspended the Green Brigade fan group from attending three home matches due to incidents of “violent and threatening behavior” that occurred during a recent match against Falkirk.

The Scottish champions have released footage purportedly showing approximately 100 supporters verbally assaulting and physically confronting a steward and two police officers on Wednesday, October 29. According to the club, this altercation erupted after a ticket inspection in the rail seating area of Celtic Park.

Earlier this summer, the Green Brigade had received a suspended sanction for “repeated serious safety and security-related breaches,” prompting the club to take further action in response to this latest incident.

In an official statement, Celtic confirmed, “Following this latest incident, the club can confirm that this sanction will now be applied, beginning from this weekend.”

The statement continued, “The club has communicated with the Green Brigade group as well as our season ticket holders concerning this incident. For our staff and police to be assaulted in this manner is simply unacceptable. This was a serious and violent incident that cannot be tolerated, and the club has no choice but to address this behavior in the strongest terms.”

Celtic emphasized that the environment at Celtic Park must be safe for all attendees and highlighted the necessity of acting in the wider interest of public safety.

The released footage depicts a group of fans rushing down a walkway under the stand, eventually disappearing from view, with additional supporters later reappearing in the concourse area.

Police Scotland has appealed for witnesses to the incident. Assistant Chief Constable Mark Sutherland stated, “We utterly condemn the unacceptable disorder that occurred on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, within Celtic Park, where two officers and a steward were assaulted by a large group of fans.”

He added, “No one should be harmed or intimidated while performing their duties, and such assaults are not part of the job. This type of violent behavior will not be tolerated. We are committed to identifying those involved and holding them accountable.”

Sutherland also mentioned that the officers and steward were left extremely shaken and traumatized by the events, and support is being provided to them. Witnesses with information regarding these assaults and disturbances are encouraged to contact authorities using reference PS-20251029-2196, or to reach out anonymously to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.

In October 2023, a section of the Green Brigade had their season tickets revoked indefinitely due to a “serious escalation” of unacceptable conduct. However, the ban was lifted in December after the group agreed to adhere to a new safety code of conduct.
