omidbasir- Just before departing for Thessaloniki to lead the Celtic expedition, President Marián Mouriño addressed the media. She acknowledged the officiating error recognized by the CTA regarding the match against Espanyol and spoke about player Fer López.

The CTA admitted that referee Cuadra Fernández made a mistake by disallowing Borja Iglesias’ goal, which would have put him at 11 goals in La Liga. “Firstly, it’s unfortunate for Borja, as he would now have 11 goals. This would have changed the outcome for us and allowed us to surpass Espanyol in the standings. It’s important to recognize that the CTA has acknowledged the error and has engaged in dialogue with us. Since becoming president, I have refrained from issuing statements, but I want the Celtic community to know that we are attentive to these issues and actively working on them. The CTA’s recognition of the error has negatively impacted us, and we appreciate their willingness to evaluate and accept this mistake while implementing measures to prevent its recurrence,” she stated.

Regarding the upcoming match in Thessaloniki against PAOK, Mouriño expressed her enthusiasm: “I am very optimistic. I always believe we will win, so I am predicting a 1-2 scoreline. It will be a challenging tie. We have been informed that their stadium atmosphere is intense, but we have previously encountered such environments in Stuttgart, Belgrade, and Zagreb. Even though fewer fans will accompany us on this trip, we will have 300 supporters. Advancing to the next round is crucial for us.”

Additionally, she commented on the return of Fer López: “Our responsibility is to focus on the club’s interests. I see him as very committed; he was eager to return, prove himself, and defend this badge. We are thrilled with his contributions on the field.”
