Chelsea s Aar n Anselmino May Return Early from Bundesliga LoanChelsea s Aar n Anselmino May Return Early from Bundesliga Loan

Patrick Berger reports that Chelsea centre-back Aarón Anselmino might return to London sooner than anticipated. Chelsea possesses the right to recall the young Argentine from his Bundesliga club because of a previously undisclosed clause in his loan agreement. According to Berger, Anselmino has not met the minimum playing time threshold outlined in the contract, granting Chelsea automatic recall rights.

Injuries during both the early and later stages of Anselmino’s loan at Borussia Dortmund have restricted the 20-year-old to just 564 minutes of play. Despite this limited time on the field, his solid performances in Dortmund have led to an increase in his estimated market value from €8 million to €12 million, as reported in the latest Transfermarkt update. Chelsea acquired Anselmino from Boca Juniors for €16.5 million in August 2024.

Notably, there is no purchase clause included in the young player’s loan contract. Additionally, recent reports indicate that Chelsea is not considering selling their highly regarded prospect, despite significant interest from Dortmund. In principle, Chelsea could preempt any intention from both the player and the Bundesliga club for a permanent transfer by exercising their recall rights.

It remains to be seen whether the Premier League club will act on this option, as doing so could potentially alienate Anselmino. Nevertheless, Chelsea may choose to protect their interests. Another young Argentine talent, Claudio Echeverri, who is on loan from Manchester City to Bayer Leverkusen, has already been recalled early.
