Claudio Gir ldez Reflects on Match Performance and Transfer MarketClaudio Gir ldez Reflects on Match Performance and Transfer Market

Claudio Giráldez expressed his dissatisfaction with his team’s first-half performance but was more pleased with their efforts in the second half. He lamented the missed opportunity to secure three points and shared his eagerness for the conclusion of the transfer market.

Regarding the match, he stated, “We played 45 minutes and didn’t deserve more than a point. In the first half, we lacked mental, tactical, and technical engagement. However, we showed competitiveness, particularly during set pieces.”

On the team’s improvement in the second half, Giráldez noted, “I believe we dominated the second half, although we struggled to convert specific opportunities into goals. Nonetheless, it wasn’t a great match from our end. In the second period, we effectively prevented counterattacks, maintained possession, and were better positioned both between the lines and on the flanks, which allowed us to apply more pressure in the area.”

During halftime, he emphasized the need to adjust tactical situations, motivate the players to elevate their intensity in pressing and ball circulation, and enhance their tactical understanding of positioning to create scoring opportunities. He acknowledged, “We had a day to prepare for the match, and at times, our expectations are high in this regard to grasp the nuances of each game. We could have improved our communication.”

Regarding the rumored interest from Celta in Lazio’s Uruguayan player Matías Vecino, he commented, “There has been talk of numerous players, especially in these last two days, as we have lost two players in that position. Fer López provides us with versatility in various roles. Moving forward, any interesting developments in the market will be taken into consideration, and I hope the transfer window concludes soon.”
