Concern Grows for Eintracht Frankfurt as Burkardt Faces Serious InjuryConcern Grows for Eintracht Frankfurt as Burkardt Faces Serious Injury

Sport Bild reports that Eintracht Frankfurt is bracing for troubling news regarding striker Jonathan Burkardt’s recent injury. The situation escalated during a Champions League match against Atalanta Bergamo, where the 25-year-old experienced calf issues and was substituted just before the hour mark.

In a post-match interview, Eintracht head coach Dino Toppmöller confirmed that Burkardt would be heading directly to the hospital for an MRI the following morning. The German tabloid suggests that the medical and coaching staff at SGE are operating under the assumption that Burkardt has sustained a serious injury that could sideline him for an extended period.

Burkardt, who previously faced a career-threatening injury during his time at Mainz, joined his boyhood club this past summer and has been in remarkable form. He has scored eight goals across 11 Bundesliga matchdays, including three braces this season.

Currently, Burkardt ranks second in the Bundesliga scoring charts, trailing only Harry Kane, who has 11 goals. His recent standout performance against Köln over the weekend, where he scored another brace, earned him a spot in the Bundesliga team of the week.
