Concerns Surrounding René Hake’s Role at Feyenoord

Feyenoord has appointed René Hake as the new assistant coach, but there are growing concerns that he is not fully content on the sidelines at the Rotterdam club. Reports from Algemeen Dagblad indicate that Hake often finds himself acquiescing to the decisions of head coach Robin van Persie.

“It’s evident that Hake is becoming less of himself on the bench,” remarked Tijmen van Wissing, a journalist from RTV Oost, during ESPN’s Voetbalpraat. “He increasingly retreats into his iPad. Hake wants to be taken seriously, a feeling he experienced at Manchester United where he was given significant training responsibilities. However, he is feeling increasingly overlooked at Feyenoord.”
