Conor Gallagher Set to Join Tottenham Hotspur from Atlético Madrid

Conor Gallagher is on the verge of joining Tottenham Hotspur from Atlético Madrid, according to sources familiar with the situation at the LaLiga club.

The former Chelsea midfielder is expected to finalize a permanent transfer to Spurs, thereby ending his 17-month stint in the Spanish capital.

At 25 years old, Gallagher has struggled to secure a regular starting position with Atlético, having made only four starts in LaLiga this season.

He joined Atlético from Chelsea in August 2024, following a prolonged transfer saga during that summer.

In the 2024-25 season, Atlético finished third in LaLiga and faced early exits in both the Copa del Rey semifinals and the Champions League round of 16.

Gallagher’s opportunities have been further limited this season due to the arrival of new midfielders, including Johnny Cardoso, Álex Baena, Thiago Almada, and Nico González, who were signed last summer.

Aston Villa also expressed interest in acquiring Gallagher, but sources indicate that the player preferred a move to north London.
