Controversial No Call Telstar Denied Clear Penalty Against AZControversial No Call Telstar Denied Clear Penalty Against AZ

On Sunday afternoon, Telstar was denied what appeared to be a clear penalty against AZ. With the score at 0-1, Kay Tejan was fouled by goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet in a manner deemed to be against the rules, yet both referee Robin Hensgens and the VAR chose not to intervene.

Analysts Kenneth Perez and Bram van Polen both recognized the validity of the claim for a penalty. The TV footage clearly showed the AZ goalkeeper holding Tejan. Although the VAR reviewed the incident, they ultimately decided against taking action. Kenneth Perez expressed his disbelief during the show “Dit was het Weekend,” stating, “I cannot understand how this is not a penalty. I can’t think of any justification for it. It’s not just a minor issue; it is quite significant.”

The decision left Telstar’s coach, Anthony Correia, equally perplexed. He remarked, “Oh, this is terrible! It genuinely hurts a lot; I did not expect it to be this severe. It was, without a doubt, a hundred percent penalty. We have plenty of people with cameras, and it’s just astounding, in capital letters.”
