Controversy Surrounds Kodai Sano’s Transfer Valuation

omidbasir- Last month, NEC turned down a bid of nearly €20 million from Nottingham Forest for player Kodai Sano. Ajax also made an unsuccessful approach for the player. Mark-Jan Fledderus, the former director of FC Groningen and currently with Como in Italy, finds the proposed sums quite astonishing.

“It makes me question whether Sano is genuinely worth that amount,” he stated.

“It’s madness! I believe he is a good player, but honestly, I think he might be a bit overrated. I understand the market and know what players typically cost around the €20 million mark. I am left wondering if Sano is really worth that price tag. However, it appears there are clubs that believe otherwise,” Fledderus added.

In response to the recent developments, Carlos Aalbers, the technical director of NEC, elaborated on the situation during an interview with ESPN. “There was a lot of commotion. After the away match against AZ on Saturday evening, things became very hectic. We received four concrete offers. They attempted to influence Sano’s mindset without our knowledge.”
