Cor Pot Reflects on Tenure with Dick Advocaat and Challenges in Curaçao

Cor Pot has been collaborating with Dick Advocaat for an extended period, currently in Curaçao, and previously at Feyenoord in De Kuip. During their time at Feyenoord, there were notable tensions with player Steven Berghuis.

In 2020, Advocaat and Pot departed from Rotterdam-Zuid having secured a spot in the Conference League. In an interview with Algemeen Dagblad, Pot remarked, “Let’s not forget that we remained unbeaten in thirty matches during that time. We were navigating through the pandemic, which meant we did not have the advantage of a supportive crowd. Eventually, Berghuis started to express dissatisfaction; he wanted to adopt a more offensive approach, but that was not our strength.”

Curaçao has secured its place in the World Cup, but Pot has refrained from visiting the island recently due to the escalating tensions between the United States and Venezuela. He stated, “This situation is concerning to me. Curaçao is merely thirty kilometers away from Venezuela. There have been incidents of nearly two airplanes colliding above the island. People are hesitant to travel there for fear of potential escalation. Therefore, I will also be postponing my visit.”
