Criticism of Feyenoord s Captain Timon Wellenreuther After PSV DefeatCriticism of Feyenoord s Captain Timon Wellenreuther After PSV Defeat

During a post-match analysis of the PSV versus Feyenoord match (3-0), Valentijn Driessen expressed his discontent with goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther, who currently serves as the captain of Feyenoord. Driessen does not regard the German player as a role model.

“Timon Wellenreuther, honestly, this is completely unacceptable,” Driessen remarked.

Following the disappointing performance in Eindhoven, Wellenreuther suggested that his teammates lacked the appropriate mindset for the match. “I am so tired of Wellenreuther’s comments after all these games. It’s truly frustrating. It’s like he’s just stating the obvious,” Driessen lamented during the Kick Off podcast by De Telegraaf.

Wellenreuther further commented, “Unacceptable. The first twenty minutes were a disaster. I don’t know if we were still asleep. They overwhelmed us at every moment during that opening phase. We didn’t win a single second ball. We lost every duel, and everyone was free in the penalty area. Unacceptable. You come here with high expectations. You want to make a real fight out of it, and after twenty minutes, it’s over. 3-0 is simply not good enough.”
