At 33 years of age, having spent the majority of his career with lower league German clubs, he has consistently delivered outstanding performances for Hamburger SV.

Following a crucial role in helping HSV secure promotion last season, Heuer Fernandes successfully overcame competition from the highly-touted newcomer, Daniel Peretz, during the training camp.

In his 11 league appearances, the Bochum native ranks as the second-most effective shot-stopper in the league, trailing only St. Pauli’s Nikola Vasilj. After the match on Saturday, Heuer Fernandes expressed his desire for prompt discussions regarding an extension of his current contract, which is set to expire at the end of this season. “It’s my job to help the team,” he stated to Sky Germany, adding, “But I don’t want to wait until April.”
