Danny Blind Questions Ajax s Potential Stock Market ExitDanny Blind Questions Ajax s Potential Stock Market Exit

Danny Blind has voiced skepticism over calls for Ajax to withdraw from the stock market. The AFCA Supporters Club recently urged the Amsterdam club to consider delisting, arguing it would restore football-first decision-making. However, Blind — who is stepping down as a commissioner — believes the club faces more urgent priorities.

“There are many voices suggesting that the club should delist from the stock market,” Blind told reporters. “The public company should be separated from the association, which currently seems to hold too much influence. These are complex issues that require careful and strategic consideration.”

“Focus Must Be on Football First”

Blind, who has been part of Ajax’s boardroom for several turbulent years, underlined that football matters should take precedence over financial restructuring.

“The most pressing concern right now,” he said, “is to secure a competent coach and bring in reinforcements during the winter transfer window.”

His remarks come at a time when Ajax continues to struggle both on and off the pitch. Following a string of disappointing results and managerial instability, the club finds itself in the lower half of the Eredivisie table — a rare and uncomfortable position for the Amsterdam giants.

Debate Over Ajax’s Structure Intensifies

The debate over Ajax’s stock market listing, introduced in 1998, has gained momentum amid frustration among supporters over governance and sporting decline. Critics argue that the dual structure — with both the public company and the Ajax association involved in decision-making — has created internal power struggles and slowed progress.

While the AFCA Supporters Club believes delisting would streamline operations and restore unity, others warn it could limit transparency and financial opportunities. Blind’s comments add another layer to an increasingly complex discussion surrounding Ajax’s identity, governance, and long-term vision.
