Darren Fletcher Uncertain About Manchester United s Future Plans Amidst Caretaker RoleDarren Fletcher Uncertain About Manchester United s Future Plans Amidst Caretaker Role

Darren Fletcher has expressed uncertainty regarding Manchester United’s plans for his future as he prepares to lead the team in his second match as caretaker manager.

Following the sacking of Ruben Amorim, Fletcher was at the helm during the recent 2-2 draw with Burnley. He will again take charge when Brighton visits Old Trafford for the FA Cup on Sunday. However, the 41-year-old revealed that there have been “no conversations” about his future beyond this weekend.

The club is still deliberating potential candidates for the managerial position until the summer, which includes names like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Michael Carrick, and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

“I communicate with Omar [Berrada] and Jason [Wilcox]; that’s how the process works,” Fletcher stated.

“My focus has been entirely on the job at hand, preparing the team for these two games. There have been no discussions regarding my future.

“Jason and Omar have entrusted me with full responsibility for these two matches, allowing me to make decisions, lead, and prepare the team. That is my sole focus.”

Fletcher anticipates that the same squad will be available to face Brighton as was present against Burnley.

In other news, a Manchester United fan group has labeled the club a ‘laughing stock’ and plans to protest. Additionally, former player Roy Keane has advocated for Eddie Howe to be considered for the managerial position, while Benjamin Sesko has hinted at ‘great things’ ahead for the club amid ongoing discussions about the managerial role.

The upcoming match against Brighton may come too soon for the return of Bryan Mbeumo or Noussair Mazraoui, one of whom will be eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations when Cameroon faces Morocco on Friday.

Following the draw with Burnley, United is eager to secure their first win since Boxing Day. Fletcher believes that the outcome at Turf Moor could have been different had Kyle Walker received a red card for an apparent stamp on Patrick Dorgu.

“From Walker’s perspective, it didn’t look good; however, I know him personally and hope his intent was to play the ball,” Fletcher commented.

“Personally, I think VAR should have assessed that incident. They reviewed the disallowed goal, which was absurd, so they should have considered this situation as well.

“Both instances were likely significant influences on the game, illustrating how impactful such decisions can be.”
