Delphine Cascarino Signs with London City Lionesses After Leaving San Diego Wave

Delphine Cascarino, the talented forward from France, has officially signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with London City Lionesses following her departure from San Diego Wave.

Cascarino opted to terminate her contract with the Wave on Sunday, with the National Women’s Soccer League club indicating her wish to be nearer to her home country.

At 28 years old, she had signed with the Wave in 2024 after an illustrious career at Lyon, where she clinched the Women’s Champions League title six times and secured nine French league championships.

With 86 appearances for the French national team, Cascarino played a pivotal role in their journey to the quarter-finals of the Olympic football tournament in Paris 2024 and the last eight of Euro 2025, notably assisting in the group stage victories against England and the Netherlands.

In her own words, Cascarino stated: “England – for men and women – is the country of football. It’s always been a goal of mine to play in this league. I want to play in the Champions League here at London City and win many trophies.”

London City Lionesses, competing in the Women’s Super League for the first time this season, currently hold the seventh position in the league.

Head coach Eder Maestre expressed his enthusiasm for the signing, stating, “I’m so excited with this signing. I really think she is one of the most exciting forwards I have seen. She is a dribbler who can take on players in one-vs-one situations, and she will be very powerful on the wing.”

He continued, “Everybody can see how good she is when she plays, and I want that warrior-like and winning mentality off the pitch too, to help us reach our goals. With her six Champions League titles, she possesses the ambition and knowledge essential for success, both on and off the pitch.”
