Ousmane Dembele received the prestigious title of Best Male Player at the recent Globe Soccer Awards gala held in the UAE. This event, which has been celebrated since 2010, recognizes outstanding achievements across both men’s and women’s football.

The PSG star completed a remarkable clean sweep of awards for 2025, adding the Globe Soccer accolade to his earlier honors, including the Ballon d’Or and FIFA Best Men’s Player of the Year. The 28-year-old showcased his immense talent during the 2024/25 season, scoring 35 goals across all competitions and playing a pivotal role in PSG’s historic triumph as they secured the Champions League title for the first time, decisively beating Inter Milan 5-0 in the final.

Although his current season has been hampered by injuries, Dembele’s early performances solidified his reputation as the world’s best player.

Despite finishing as the Ballon d’Or runner-up, Lamine Yamal, the 18-year-old Barcelona forward, also had a successful night at the Globe Soccer Awards, taking home two awards. Yamal was honored as the ‘Best Forward’ and received the Diego Armando Maradona Award for his exceptional skill and talent, honoring the legacy of the late football icon. He was also nominated for the Best Male Player award alongside notable players such as Kylian Mbappe and Vitinha, ultimately losing out to Dembele.

In his acceptance speech at the FIFA Best Awards, Dembele expressed gratitude to his teammates, stating, “Hard work pays off. It’s been a fantastic year for me, both individually and collectively.”

The Globe Soccer Awards also recognized a variety of other talents. Aitana Bonmati was awarded Best Female Player, PSG was named Best Male Club, Barcelona took home Best Female Club, and Luis Enrique was named Best Coach. PSG emerged as the evening’s biggest winner, with Vitinha receiving the Best Midfielder award and Desire Doue being recognized as Emerging Player. Additionally, Luis Campos and Nasser Al-Khelaifi were honored as Best Sporting Director and Best Sports President, respectively.

Other notable awards included Cristiano Ronaldo being named Best Middle Eastern Player and Portugal receiving the accolade for Best National Team after their Nations League victory. Paul Pogba was recognized for his comeback, winning the Best Sports Comeback award.

This recognition marks a significant milestone in Dembele’s career, highlighting his exceptional growth on the pitch. Despite facing challenges due to injury and fixture congestion, he has been instrumental in leading PSG to European glory.

As he looks to recover and regain his match fitness after making only six appearances this season, Dembele aims to play a crucial role in PSG’s campaign to defend their Champions League title and reclaim the top position in Ligue 1.
