DFB Issues Suspension and Fine to Dominik KohrDFB Issues Suspension and Fine to Dominik Kohr

The German Football Association (DFB) announced its ruling regarding Mainz 05 midfielder Dominik Kohr late on Monday evening. Kohr, who holds the record for the most expulsions in Bundesliga history, will serve a three-match suspension and pay a €15,000 fine due to his reckless foul on Hoffenheim’s Max Moerstedt last Friday.

Despite concerns that he might face a more severe penalty, observers widely agreed that his challenge warranted a straight red card. A potential four-match ban would have effectively sidelined Kohr for the remainder of the 2025 calendar year. Under the current ruling, however, he is expected to be eligible for Mainz’s last league game of the year against St. Pauli on December 21.

While Kohr remains available to head coach Bo Henriksen for Mainz’s upcoming UEFA Conference League matches, the club’s performance in Europe does not overshadow their more pressing concerns. Mainz has successfully won all three of their Conference League fixtures thus far.

In the Bundesliga, however, Henriksen’s team finds itself in the automatic relegation zone, having secured only one victory and three draws across 11 matchdays.
