DFB Suspends Dominik Kohr for Three Matches Following Reckless TackleDFB Suspends Dominik Kohr for Three Matches Following Reckless Tackle

The DFB has issued its anticipated ruling regarding Mainz 05 midfielder Dominik Kohr as of late Monday evening. Kohr, who holds the Bundesliga record for the most ejections from matches, will face a suspension of three league matches and a fine of €15,000 for his aggressive foul on Hoffenheim’s Max Moerstedt last Friday.

Initially, Kohr was at risk of receiving a more severe penalty, as observers universally deemed his challenge to warrant a straight red card.

A four-match suspension would have effectively concluded Kohr’s participation in league play for 2025. However, under the current ruling, he is slated to return for Mainz’s final league match against St. Pauli on December 21st.

Despite his suspension from league play, Kohr remains available to head coach Bo Henriksen for Mainz’s upcoming UEFA Conference League matches. The 05ers have performed admirably in Europe, having secured victories in all three of their Conference League fixtures thus far.

In contrast, the club’s situation in the Bundesliga is concerning, as Henriksen’s squad currently finds itself in the automatic relegation zone with just one win and three draws from 11 matchdays.
