Disasi and Dragusin Potential Transfers on the HorizonDisasi and Dragusin Potential Transfers on the Horizon

Sky Sports reports that two international players currently in the English Premier League may soon have the opportunity to transition to Italy. Chelsea’s Axel Disasi is expected to be on the move in early 2026.

The 27-year-old French defender, who has earned five senior caps for his country, is part of the so-called “bomb squad” at Stamford Bridge. Under the management of Enzo Maresca, Disasi has been sidelined and is facing uncertainty regarding his future.

Since April 22, 2025, when he participated in a 2-1 loss for Aston Villa against Manchester City, Disasi has not made a competitive appearance. A potential permanent transfer to Aston Villa did not materialize, leaving the former Monaco player in a challenging position.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Chelsea is open to selling Disasi, who was acquired for £39 million ($52 million) in 2023. However, any loan arrangement has been ruled out, as Chelsea has utilized all available loan spots for UK players this season. Romano stated, “Axel Disasi is available for the January window, but reports of a loan move are inaccurate as the French defender cannot leave on loan. AS Roma, OL, and Paris FC have all been informed.”

Meanwhile, Sky Sports is uncertain about the availability of Dragusin from Tottenham Hotspur. Nonetheless, the North London club is reportedly seeking to enhance its squad with another naturally left-sided defender. Currently, Tottenham has five center-backs on their roster and may need to offload a player to create space for new additions.

After a difficult year sidelined by a knee ligament injury sustained during a Europa League match against Elfsborg in January, Dragusin made a notable return during Spurs’ 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace on December 28. Following the match, manager Thomas Frank commented on Dragusin’s future, emphasizing his happiness to see the young player return to the field after almost ten months away. “For me, that is the most important thing,” Frank remarked. “Regarding rumors, they are just that—rumors.”

While Dragusin appears to have a potential pathway back into the Tottenham squad, Disasi’s tenure at Chelsea seems increasingly precarious. Although he has participated in the club’s U21 matches this season, he was not included in the first-team roster, which limits his chances for a revival.

Disasi’s involvement with Chelsea’s development team has been beneficial for regaining fitness in anticipation of a potential move, yet a brief return to full training in November did not alter his standing. Manager Maresca stated regarding the players in limbo, “Axel and Raheem [Sterling] are Chelsea players. Axel has contributed to the second team and is assisting younger players, but his future remains uncertain.”

With Disasi behind players like Wesley Fofana, Tosin Adarabioyo, Trevoh Chalobah, and Levi Colwill in the defensive hierarchy, the situation could work to AS Roma’s advantage as they prepare to make official inquiries in the coming year.
