Dominik Kohr Faces Potential Suspension Following Red Card IncidentDominik Kohr Faces Potential Suspension Following Red Card Incident

omidbasir- Mainz defender Dominik Kohr is facing significant repercussions following his recent red card incident, which has raised concerns within the Bundesliga community. According to reports from Kicker, the German Football Association (DFB) is contemplating a suspension of up to four matches for the 31-year-old, who holds the dubious record for the most sending-offs in league history. If the maximum penalty is enforced, Kohr’s 2025 season could effectively come to an early end.

In a bid to mitigate the fallout, Kohr took to social media to express his remorse over the dangerous tackle on Hoffenheim’s forward, Max Moerstedt. However, this apology may arrive too late to influence the DFB’s disciplinary committee, which has grown increasingly frustrated with Kohr’s repeated indiscretions. A final verdict is anticipated today.

While Kohr’s teammates, including Danny da Costa, have rallied to defend him against accusations of being the so-called ‘Bundesliga Bully’, their sentiments are unlikely to sway the DFB’s decision. Da Costa remarked on Sky Germany, “You keep reading articles describing him as the ‘bully of the league.’ I’ve known and played with him long enough to say that this characterization is unfair. Although he has an aggressive playing style, many players occasionally cross the line. The tackle on Moerstedt was not intentional.”

Kohr addressed his apology directly to Moerstedt on Instagram, stating, “In my mind, I just wanted to prevent a pass. After seeing the TV footage, I was shocked myself. It could have turned out much worse. I’m relieved and glad that nothing more serious happened and that you were able to continue playing.”

He further extended his apologies to the Mainz fans, expressing his commitment to the team: “I want to give my all for you, and I want to reassure you that I never intend to cause harm to anyone intentionally.”
