Doue Crowned Golden Boy Following Historic Season with PSGDoue Crowned Golden Boy Following Historic Season with PSG

The Golden Boy award has been presented to the most outstanding player under the age of 21 since 2003, with illustrious past winners including Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney, Paul Pogba, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Pedri, Jude Bellingham, and Lamine Yamal.

This year, 20-year-old winger Doue has joined this prestigious list, marking a remarkable 2024-25 campaign. He made 61 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) last season, netting 16 goals and playing a key role in securing three major trophies for the club.

In addition to clinching the Ligue 1 title and the Coupe de France, PSG made history by winning the Champions League for the first time, with Doue contributing significantly to their triumph in a decisive 5-0 victory over Serie A giants Inter.

Doue becomes the fourth Frenchman to receive this accolade, following in the footsteps of Pogba, Mbappe, and Anthony Martial. He amassed an impressive 450 points out of a possible 500 in the 2025 voting, leaving his competitors far behind.

The Golden Boy award was presented by Tuttosport during a dazzling ceremony in Turin, where PSG also celebrated Nasser Al-Khelaifi as the best president and Luis Campos as the best football executive, highlighting the club’s dominance at the event.

Upon receiving the award, Doue expressed his pride and joy, stating, “I am filled with a feeling of great pride and happiness. The teamwork has paid off, and it is thanks to this that Paris Saint-Germain has achieved its greatest goals this year, enjoying the best season in its history. It is the result of a collective effort.

“I am very happy to receive this award, which recognizes the trophies won with the team and my positive contribution during important matches. I am especially grateful to my family, my teammates, the coach, the staff, and everyone involved with the club, particularly President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who believed in me and brought me to PSG. Without them, I wouldn’t have been able to win the Golden Boy award.”

Al-Khelaifi commented on the season’s successes, saying, “We have had a fantastic season, reaching significant milestones that reflect the hard work of the past few years. This is the best season in the club’s history, but more crucial than the results is the manner in which we achieved them. We are proud of our approach and the way we transformed the club.

“We are excited about our current position, having navigated a challenging journey, and we will continue on this path without straying from our philosophy: to win collectively by developing our young players, guided by the best manager in the world, Luis Enrique. Our goal is to cultivate our youth teams and secure the club’s future while achieving present success. I am truly appreciative of this recognition as it honors both my work and that of the club.”

In a parallel recognition, the Golden Girl award went to England’s Agyemang, who scored two vital goals for the Lionesses, aiding them in defending their European Championship title in 2025. Named the tournament’s young player, the 19-year-old is currently on a loan spell at Brighton from Arsenal but faces a long recovery after suffering knee ligament damage, sidelining her for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
