Ederson s Future A Potential Bargain for Top Clubs in 2026Ederson s Future A Potential Bargain for Top Clubs in 2026

In 2025, Manchester United has shown interest in Atalanta midfielder Ederson as they seek solutions to their midfield challenges. The 26-year-old, who is versatile enough to play as a defensive midfielder, centrally, or in an advanced role, has garnered attention from prestigious teams, including Liverpool. However, he currently remains with the Serie A side. Previously, reports indicated his price could reach up to €80 million (£70 million), which has discouraged potential buyers. Yet, Brazilian agent Andre Cury now suggests that he may be available for less than half of that amount.

Agent Cury, who represents both Ederson and Chelsea’s Estevao, has indicated that the former Cruzeiro player might be offered in 2026 at a reduced fee, as his contract is set to expire the following year. He praised Ederson as a “spectacular” talent, highlighting his impressive performance metrics.

Speaking to Cadena SER, he stated: “Atalanta were asking for substantial fees, ranging from €60 million to €75 million. As he approaches the end of his contract, they could potentially lower his price to between €30 million and €40 million. He is a spectacular player with some of the best statistics in Europe for his position.”

Cury appears to be generating interest in Ederson, asserting that he would be an excellent fit for Barcelona, a club with which the midfielder has also been associated. He remarked: “A player I think could adapt very well to Barça’s system, bringing significant physicality and stamina, is Ederson from Atalanta. This presents an opportunity because his contract is nearing its end. Despite receiving high offers, Atalanta has been reluctant to sell him. I believe the transfer will happen either in the winter or summer window.”

Based on his agent’s comments, it seems likely that Ederson, who has made 151 appearances for the Italian club and scored 14 goals, could be on the move in 2026. However, the outcome remains uncertain as to whether Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona, or another club will secure his signature. The player himself will likely focus on earning a spot in Brazil’s World Cup squad, meaning his future may only be clarified after the tournament concludes next summer.
