Luis Orejuela de la Rosa, born in 2007, is currently navigating his ninth season in the youth football system of Mallorca. He plays as a left-back and stands out as the leading goal scorer for the Juvenil A team, having netted four goals in the División de Honor. This week, Orejuela has begun training under coach Jagoba Arrasate, stepping in for Toni Lato, who is sidelined due to injury, and Johan Mojica, who is away on international duty. The aim is for him to complete a full week of training with the first team.

As Mallorca strives to maintain its position above the relegation zone, Coach Arrasate has turned to the youth academy to bolster the squad amid a shortage of players due to injuries and international commitments. Goalkeeper Nil Torreguitart has been consistently joining the first team’s training sessions, particularly following Leo Román’s injury. Additionally, Javier Olaizola from the ‘B’ team made his debut in the Copa del Rey against Atlètic Sant Just. On the left flank, Orejuela has been included to strengthen the lineup. Another promising option is Salhi, who has represented France at the youth level and can play as a midfielder, left-back, or winger; he recently participated in pre-season with the first team.

Orejuela has garnered the approval of Coach Arrasate after impressing during training sessions, stepping in during left-side absences. If he continues on his upward trajectory, Orejuela—who joined the club from Penya Arrabal during his early years—has the potential to further establish himself. Notably, he is recognized for his speed, offensive presence in the opposing area, and strong defensive capabilities, making him a favorite of Arrasate and a promising prospect for the team’s future.
