Emotional Wedding of Football Stars Kerr and MewisEmotional Wedding of Football Stars Kerr and Mewis

The couple exchanged vows at a luxurious Venetian-inspired estate, creating a memorable day filled with emotion. Following a chic black-and-white dress code, Kerr looked dashing in a classic black tuxedo accented with a white buttonhole rose, while Mewis was breathtaking in a sparkling white gown featuring a corset and a flowing long veil. A particularly touching moment occurred when Kerr carried their seven-month-old son, Jagger, down the aisle. Mewis, a former player for the U.S. Women’s National Team and West Ham United, had anticipated the emotional significance of this moment, revealing on her podcast that she would likely “sob when that happens.”

The guest list included several of Kerr’s Matildas teammates, such as Steph Catley, Mackenzie Arnold, and Alanna Kennedy, all adhering to the elegant dress code in black outfits. Other notable attendees included Arsenal stars Caitlin Foord and Katie McCabe, along with former U.S. teammate Stephanie McCaffrey. The couple, who became engaged in late 2023 after meeting in 2019 and making their relationship public in 2021, celebrated their union with an extravagant party that lasted into the early hours of 2026. Although a full honeymoon is postponed due to Kerr’s upcoming match for Chelsea against West Ham on January 11th, the newlyweds were spotted returning to London with baby Jagger after a brief stay at the Crown Towers hotel.

Kerr has faced significant challenges in her career, including an ACL injury sustained during Chelsea training in January 2024, which sidelined her for 20 months and excluded her from major competitions, such as the Paris Olympics. Her recovery was complicated by a previously undetected issue with the surgical graft, which caused ongoing discomfort and led to “dark” days during her rehabilitation. She made her long-awaited return to Chelsea in September of last year, coming off the bench against Aston Villa and scoring her 100th goal for the club shortly thereafter. Since then, she has continued to excel, netting a brace during her first start post-injury in the Women’s Champions League in November 2025, and rejoining the Australian national team squad.

In addition to injury challenges, Kerr faced a legal battle stemming from a January 2023 incident in London involving a dispute with a taxi driver and a subsequent altercation with a police officer. Kerr maintained that her actions were not intended to insult or harm anyone, but were a result of poor expression during a traumatic evening. She argued that the police treated her differently due to their “power and privilege.” In February, a jury at Kingston Crown Court found her not guilty of racially aggravated intentional disorderly conduct following a week-long trial.

Chelsea Women’s performance this season has been impressive, with only one league loss thus far. They face a demanding schedule ahead, including matches against West Ham United Women in the WSL, Crystal Palace Women in the Women’s FA Cup, and an away clash against Manchester City Women in the Women’s League Cup semi-finals.
