omidbasir- Endrick played a pivotal role in Lyon’s recent 2-1 victory over Brest by providing the assist for Abner Vinicius’ winning goal. He followed this success with a remarkable hat-trick in Lyon’s commanding 5-2 win against Metz on Sunday.

The 19-year-old’s outstanding performances have led coach Paulo Fonseca to submit a request to the board for negotiations with Real Madrid regarding an extension of Endrick’s loan beyond the current season.

Initially, the agreement allowed Endrick to remain at Parc OL until the summer. However, Fonseca is optimistic that a deal can be reached with Real Madrid to keep the young striker at the club until the conclusion of the 2026-27 season, as reported by ESPN Brasil.

Endrick made the move to France after facing limited playing opportunities in the Spanish capital during the first half of the season, having fallen out of favor with Xabi Alonso. With Alonso now replaced by Álvaro Arbeloa at Real Madrid, it remains uncertain what the new coach’s plans are for the talented Brazilian.

Reflecting on his decision to transfer to Lyon, Endrick expressed satisfaction with his choice, emphasizing the importance of securing more playing time. He had managed just 12 minutes of league action under Alonso prior to his move.

After scoring his first career hat trick against Metz, Endrick shared his excitement post-match, stating, “That was the first hat trick of my life, I’m very happy, truly. It was an incredible match. I’ll keep the ball from that game at home. It’s an incredible day in my life.”

In response to those who questioned his decision to leave Real Madrid for Lyon in a World Cup year, Endrick remarked, “I think it’s been really great playing in this league [Ligue 1]. It’s strong and physical, with a lot of aggression. I like that.”

He further noted, “It wasn’t a mistake [coming to Lyon]. Life is like that. My life has always been difficult, it’s never been easy. I stay strong with the strength I receive from the people around me. This is just the beginning. People have always told me that Lyon is a great team and that I should come and play here, and the truth is that the team is, indeed, very good.”

Endrick also sought advice from Brazil’s national team coach, Carlo Ancelotti, prior to finalizing his January move to Lyon. “Lyon is a great place, I’m very lucky and I feel really good here,” he added.

“This hat trick is very important to me; it helps the team win and I’m really pleased. I can contribute to the team and I feel like I belong. It’s like God told me this was the right place for my career. Every day, every moment, I never could have imagined it, and now it’s a reality.”

He emphasized the strong rapport he has developed with his teammates, fans, and coaching staff, stating, “We’re going to keep working even harder and we’re already focused on the next match.”

Lyon’s victory over Metz propelled them to fourth place in the Ligue 1 standings as Fonseca’s side extended their winning streak to four matches. However, they remain nine points behind league leaders and reigning champions PSG.

This weekend, PSG reclaimed the top spot in Ligue 1, overtaking Lens after Marseille’s 3-1 victory over Pierre Sage’s side at the Velodrome.

Lyon’s upcoming fixtures include a Europa League match against PAOK, followed by a league encounter at home against Lille next week.
