The Three Lions previously faced Spain in the European Championships final, where they were narrowly defeated 2-1, marking Gareth Southgate’s last match in charge.

Wales, also elevated to League A, confronts a formidable challenge, drawn against Nations League titleholders Portugal, as well as Norway, led by Erling Haaland, and Denmark.

Kylian Mbappe’s France faces a demanding group that includes Italy, Belgium, and Türkiye, while another group features Germany, the Netherlands, Serbia, and Greece.

The League A group stage draw is as follows:

The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) had previously passed a motion urging UEFA to bar Israel from the competition; however, they appear ready to honor the fixture. A statement noted that the association acknowledges UEFA regulations state that a refusal to play results in forfeiture and potential disciplinary actions, including possible disqualification from the competition.

The Nations League is set to commence in September, with fixtures scheduled to take place until November 2026.

In coaching developments, Thomas Tuchel has extended his contract with England through 2028, thus remaining at the helm during this tournament. He expressed enthusiasm about his extension, stating, “I am very happy and proud to extend my time with England. It is no secret that I have enjoyed every moment working with my players and coaches, and I look forward to leading them in the World Cup.
