Enhanced Security Measures for Sevilla vs. Betis DerbyEnhanced Security Measures for Sevilla vs. Betis Derby

On Wednesday, Francisco Toscano, the Government Subdelegate in Seville, chaired a security meeting in preparation for the upcoming derby between Sevilla and Betis at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium, scheduled for this Sunday. A detailed security operation will commence on Saturday and will remain in effect until hours after the conclusion of the match.

According to a statement from the Subdelegation, the operation will deploy 396 members of the National Police, who will collaborate with local police, firefighters, civil protection, the Red Cross, emergency services (061), and the municipal cleaning service of Seville.

The security meeting included representatives from the National Police, both football clubs, the attached police force, local police, and officials from the ambulance service linked to the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs.

Toscano emphasized that this operation will create a secure environment before, during, and after the match, particularly in sensitive areas such as Nervión and the hotels where teams will be concentrated. He also indicated that the National Police would maintain enhanced surveillance before the event to anticipate any movements from radical groups.

The service designed by the National Police will enter its Pre-Critical Phase on Saturday, featuring units such as the Citizen Attention and Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR) from the Provincial Brigade of Citizen Security (BPSC), along with members from the Provincial Brigade of Information, among others.

The Critical Phase will commence on Sunday before the match, where personnel from the IV Police Intervention Unit (UIP) will provide protection around the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium, supported by the Mounted Unit, especially in areas where fans are expected to gather.

This operation will also include protective measures at the hotels accommodating both teams and referees, ensuring security during their transfers to the stadium.

Once the match begins, the UIP will monitor activities both inside and outside the stadium, working alongside the Mounted Unit in the surrounding areas and overseeing private security personnel. After the match, police forces will remain in the vicinity to prevent any potential disturbances.
