Eric Ramsay Joins West Bromwich Albion as Head CoachEric Ramsay Joins West Bromwich Albion as Head Coach

Eric Ramsay, head coach of Minnesota United, is poised to join West Bromwich Albion, a club competing in the English Championship, as confirmed by a source to ESPN.

At just 34 years old, Ramsay has made a significant impact during his two-season tenure with Minnesota, successfully guiding the team to the playoffs in both years. In 2025, his squad secured a victory against the Seattle Sounders in the Western Conference quarterfinals before ultimately falling to San Diego FC in the following round. Ramsay’s overall record with the Loons stands at 31 wins, 23 losses, and 22 draws, including postseason shootout victories counted as draws.

Ramsay replaces Ryan Mason, who was dismissed earlier this week. Currently, West Bromwich Albion finds itself in 18th place, a challenging position, sitting 10 points away from the playoff spots in England’s second tier.

The news of Ramsay’s transition to West Brom was first reported by the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Recognized for his expertise, Ramsay has a strong background in English football, having served at Manchester United during the managerial periods of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ralf Rangnick, and Erik ten Hag.

Additionally, he was an assistant coach for the Wales men’s national team for six months beginning in March 2023. His career also includes youth coaching roles at prestigious clubs such as Swansea City, Shrewsbury Town, and Chelsea.

Since the conclusion of the season, Minnesota United’s roster has seen notable changes, including midfielder Robin Lod’s move to Chicago Fire and goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair’s transfer to Inter Miami, both of whom were free agents. The club has also strengthened its lineup by acquiring former New England Revolution midfielder/forward Tomás Chancalay in a trade, along with goalkeeper Drake Callender from Charlotte FC.
