Erik ten Hag has been officially introduced as the new technical director of FC Twente. After two unsuccessful ventures abroad with Manchester United and Bayer Leverkusen, the native of Tukker is eager to reestablish himself in Enschede. He expresses enthusiasm for this role but acknowledges that he had opportunities elsewhere in the country.

Previously, Ten Hag had engaged in discussions with Ajax regarding a potential return to the club. It is well-known that Ajax sought to bring Ten Hag back, given the significant successes he achieved during his earlier tenure, including three league titles and two KNVB Cups, as well as a remarkable run to the semi-finals of the Champions League. Following a disappointing period, Ajax is eager for improvement and appointed John Heitinga at the start of the season; however, he was swiftly dismissed. Fred Grim has since taken over the coaching responsibilities and will continue in this role at least until the end of the season.

Ten Hag confirmed that discussions with Ajax revolved around a coaching position. While he is currently not set to return to the sidelines immediately, there appears to be a possibility for his involvement in coaching in the future.
