Estevao is relishing his experience in the Champions League with Chelsea during his inaugural season in England. On Tuesday night, the teenager scored an impressive goal that contributed to a decisive victory over Barcelona, making him the second-youngest player, following Kylian Mbappe, to find the net in each of his first three Champions League starts. Reflecting on this memorable game, Estevao expressed his joy and gratitude.

In an interview with the club’s media, he stated, “I don’t really have the words to sum up how I’m feeling right now. It was the perfect night, and I’m grateful to God for making everything happen for me. The goal came so quickly; it was almost instantaneous. I saw the space, maneuvered through, and scored. This is undoubtedly the most special moment of my career, and I hope to continue scoring in the future. I’m also thrilled that my family was able to watch.”

“Since I joined Chelsea, I have felt a strong connection with the fans. I’m delighted to score for them and hope there are many more in the future. I enjoy every moment because football is my greatest passion. For me, playing football is never a burden; it brings me immense happiness.”

Estevao’s agent has recently shared insights about the young star’s admiration for Barcelona, revealing that extensive discussions were held regarding a potential transfer before he ultimately signed with Chelsea. Cury informed Cadena SER, “We had talks with Barcelona in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. I believed Estevao would have a remarkable future in world football, and we approached the club with an offer. Unfortunately, Barcelona’s financial difficulties made the move impossible. It’s disappointing, but that’s the nature of football. Although the technical staff recognized Estevao’s talent, the club’s financial constraints hindered the process.”

The Brazilian prodigy has openly stated that his ultimate dream is to play for Barcelona, having grown up idolizing Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Luis Suarez. Cury added, “Estevao is under a five-year contract and is enjoying his time at Chelsea. However, he still holds a special affection for Barcelona.”

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca praised Estevao following the match, stating, “As Raphinha mentioned, Estevao and Lamine Yamal could be the next Messi and Ronaldo in the next 10 to 15 years. But they are only 18 and need to focus on enjoying the game and improving daily. That is the most crucial aspect for them.”

Maresca noted that Estevao’s recent goal was reminiscent of one he scored against Chelsea in the Club World Cup, emphasizing the need for the young player to remain relaxed. “If you start comparing them to legends like Ronaldo and Messi, it places excessive pressure on them. They should approach training with happiness and enthusiasm.”

Cury also believes that Estevao and Yamal could effectively play together, despite both players favoring the right flank. He remarked, “Think of the combination of Neymar and Messi; it’s much stronger than relying on one alone.”

Looking ahead, Chelsea is set to face Arsenal in a crucial Premier League match on Sunday at Stamford Bridge. The Blues are buoyed by their recent victory and are aware that a win against the Gunners could narrow the gap to the league leaders to just three points.
