FC Augsburg has officially parted ways with head coach Sandro Wagner. The 38-year-old’s challenging tenure in charge of the Bundesliga side concluded after only 12 league matches. Under his leadership, the team recorded three wins, eight losses, and one draw. Currently, Augsburg finds itself in 14th place in the Bundesliga standings and will not be participating in the DFB Pokal this week following an exit in the second round at the hands of VfL Bochum.

Wagner recently marked his 38th birthday this past Sunday with a significant 3-0 defeat against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Following yet another disappointing performance, he struggled to provide further explanations for the team’s lackluster results.

In light of Wagner’s critiques and the team’s poor performance, German football journalists anticipated that a parting of ways would soon occur.

As of now, it remains uncertain who will oversee Augsburg’s training sessions on Tuesday. Notably, two of Wagner’s assistants, Thomas Kasparetti and Sven Palinkasch, are also departing from the club. According to Kicker, former Augsburg head coach Manuel Baum, who returned to the organization in an administrative role this past summer, may be poised to step in as interim coach.
