FC Augsburg has officially confirmed the signing of Nigerian striker Uchenna Ogundu.

According to reports from Turkish news sources, the 19-year-old has been acquired by the German club for a significant fee. Notably, Turkish football journalist Ertan Süzgün indicates that Augsburg has paid a base transfer fee of €4.5 million, which could increase to €6.5 million due to performance-related bonuses. Additionally, Ogundu’s former club, Alanyaspor, has secured a favorable resale clause.

In addition to Ogundu, the Bavarian Swabians have signed Portuguese talent Rodrigo Ribeiro and veteran Austrian striker Michael Gregoritsch. Furthermore, Stuttgart reservist Thomas Kastanaras also joined the team on deadline day. Gregoritsch has already made a notable impact, scoring twice in Augsburg’s recent victory over relegation rivals FC St. Pauli.

Augsburg’s sporting director, Benni Weber, expressed his satisfaction with the acquisition, stating, “We are very pleased that Uchenna has chosen FCA. With his pace, dynamism, and ability to get in behind the defense, he is a perfect fit for us and will bring additional versatility to our game.”

Uchenna Ogundu himself remarked, “FC Augsburg offers me a great opportunity to prove myself in one of the best leagues in the world. I can’t wait to play at the WWK ARENA for the first time and experience the atmosphere.”
