Enzo Fernandez is enjoying a remarkable season at Stamford Bridge, having netted 11 goals across all competitions for Chelsea. His recent stoppage-time winner against West Ham in the Premier League highlighted his pivotal role in the team’s performance.

Fernandez’s goal-scoring success has drawn comparisons to Frank Lampard, who briefly managed him during his caretaker tenure in 2023. The midfielder acknowledged the significant impact Lampard has had on his career, stating, “He’s an inspiration. I’ve watched numerous videos of Frank since joining Chelsea, especially noting how he navigated the critical areas near the goal. While he was our coach, I played in a deeper position, which limited our interaction about my current role. However, I have been gaining insights from his videos since coming to the club. He is an exceptional player and a Chelsea legend. I prefer not to be compared to him, as he has accomplished much more here than I have. He is my idol, and I aspire to follow in his footsteps at Chelsea.”

Discussing his enhanced goal-scoring rate this season, Fernandez added, “I have enjoyed the opportunity to contribute goals and assists to my game. The coach grants me the freedom to express myself in the attacking third, allowing me to feel confident and effective. We follow a game plan tailored for each match, as directed by Liam. This freedom enables me to enter the box, providing my teammates with additional options. I have been diligently working on this aspect during training. Crucially, maintaining physical fitness is essential for me to position myself effectively in those final moments, given my midfield role requires significant movement. I feel prepared for these challenges now and have worked hard to become as competitive as I am today. Consistency is vital; I give 100 percent in every training session and match, which I believe leads to positive outcomes.”

The midfielder, who has already secured titles in the Conference League and Club World Cup with Chelsea, expressed his ambition to collect more trophies with the club. He remarked, “I am grateful for the three years I have spent here. The experience has evolved from challenging to rewarding. Being here today fills me with happiness, and I aim to continue winning because that is the expectation associated with this shirt. I feel a deep connection to the club and hope to achieve many more successes here.”

Fernandez’s impressive performances have sparked interest from clubs such as Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain; however, manager Liam Rosenior has swiftly dismissed such transfer rumors.

Looking ahead, the Argentine midfielder is set to compete with Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday against a struggling Wolves side at Molineux, seeking to regain momentum after a midweek defeat to Arsenal that eliminated the Blues from the Carabao Cup.
