Feyenoord’s Pursuit of Maher Carrizo Unlikely as Manchester City Engages

Maher Carrizo is unlikely to make a move to Feyenoord. The Argentine winger has been mentioned in connection with the Rotterdam club, but it appears that Manchester City is poised to secure his services. Mounir Boualin provided insights during the latest episode of Transfermind, a video podcast by SoccerNews, shedding light on the situation.

According to Boualin, Feyenoord is not pursuing Carrizo concretely this winter. The nineteen-year-old right winger from Vélez Sarsfield was rumored to be on Feyenoord’s radar; however, Boualin clarified in the Transfermind podcast, “Yes, Feyenoord is not actively pursuing him, as I understand.” The club only made inquiries regarding his capabilities.

Before Feyenoord could take definitive action, it seems that the English giants are already in discussions with Carrizo. Boualin noted, “I heard that he is in advanced negotiations with Manchester City. Yes, and as Feyenoord, you cannot compete with that.”

Presenter Daan Jurgers questioned the rationale behind Feyenoord’s interest in a right winger, especially since Anis Hadj-Moussa’s position is not under scrutiny. Boualin offered some context, recognizing why Carrizo was included on Feyenoord’s list. “You never know if there might be a deal in the works behind the scenes involving Hadj-Moussa and Olympique Marseille,” the transfer journalist mentioned. “That has been discussed. Perhaps that plays a role. However, Carrizo is currently not a concrete option and likely not attainable.”
