Fran Beltrán may be nearing the end of his tenure as a Celta Vigo player, as he is finalizing an agreement to join Girona this January.

This season, Beltrán has experienced the least playing time since his arrival in Vigo seven and a half years ago, having participated in 15 matches totaling 960 minutes, which has significantly diminished his role within the team.

Interestingly, despite his youth—turning 27 in February—he ranks as the third player in the club’s history for most appearances in La Liga. Over his seven and a half years with Celta, he has played 263 official matches across all competitions, scoring eight goals.

With his contract set to expire in June, Celta has not taken any steps toward renewing it, prompting Beltrán to view Girona as an opportunity to regain the prominence he once enjoyed at Celta.

Should the transfer go through, coach Claudio Giráldez will see a reduction in his midfield options, going from five midfielders to just three, particularly following the recent loan of Damián to Racing de Santander.
