Fran Garagarza’s Heartfelt Message of Gratitude

Fran Garagarza, the Sporting Director of Espanyol, has shared his first words after being admitted to the cardiac ICU of a Barcelona hospital last Tuesday due to an acute myocardial infarction, as announced by the club in an official statement.

In his letter of thanks, Garagarza began by expressing, “My family and I are overwhelmed by the countless expressions of affection we have received in recent days, particularly your respect and appreciation for our privacy.”

Garagarza made it a point to acknowledge everyone who has supported him: “Starting with Alan Pace and the ownership of Espanyol, the board, the coach and his technical staff, the players, everyone associated with La21 and their employees, and not forgetting the wonderful fans who have embraced us from the very first moment.”

Despite his critical health condition, Garagarza affirmed his ongoing connection to the team’s affairs: “I remain informed about how Espanyol is performing and have full confidence in the work of my team during this period of absence.”

Dear Espanyol family:

My family and I are overwhelmed by the countless expressions of affection we have received in recent days, especially your respect and appreciation for our privacy.

We want to thank everyone for the support shown since day one, starting with Alan Pace and the ownership of Espanyol, the management, the coach and his technical staff, the players, everyone associated with La21 and their employees, and of course, that wonderful fan base that has been with us since the very first moment. We were moved to see your banner at the stadium and the affection you also showed Carlos Mira, to whom we extend our best wishes. We also appreciate everyone in the football community who has sent their best wishes, including federations, leagues, clubs, executives, coaches, and players, as well as our friends and close acquaintances.

We would especially like to publicly thank the doctors and healthcare professionals.

I am comforted by the expressions of affection and by how you continue to support our team unconditionally. I keep track of how Espanyol is doing, and I am confident in the work of my team during my absence.
