Frenkie de Jong Reflects on Ajax’s Struggles

Frenkie de Jong continues to follow Ajax closely, despite the club’s current challenges. In an interview with Voetbal International, the Barcelona midfielder candidly reflects on the unfortunate phase Ajax is experiencing.

De Jong comments, “It’s not enjoyable to watch Ajax in their current state.” The era when Ajax dominated both the Eredivisie and European competitions seems to be a thing of the past. Having been part of the highly successful Ajax team of the 2018-2019 season, De Jong remains invested in the club’s fortunes. He admits, “Whenever possible, I watch Ajax’s matches. It’s disheartening to see how they’re performing now. I would much prefer to see them winning.”
