Georgia Stanway Set to Depart Bayern Munich: A New Chapter Awaits

England international Georgia Stanway, a two-time European champion, will conclude her time at Bayern Munich when her contract expires at the end of the current season.

The 27-year-old midfielder joined Bayern from Manchester City in 2022 and has since secured three league titles. During her tenure in Germany, she also achieved notable success with the England national team, becoming recognized as one of the world’s premier midfielders.

With 87 caps for England, Stanway is now eligible to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with another club, paving the way for a potential summer transfer. Arsenal has reportedly emerged as the leading contender and is in discussions with Stanway regarding a possible agreement, although interest from other clubs persists.

In a statement, Stanway expressed her gratitude towards Bayern, stating, “I am incredibly grateful to Bayern. Thankfully, my time here isn’t over yet. The decision to leave was incredibly difficult. I definitely didn’t make it lightly. I’ve made friends and memories here that will last a lifetime, and I’ve been able to develop enormously as both a player and a person.”

She added, “I will give absolutely everything for Bayern and our sporting success until the very last day – just as I have for the past three and a half years.”

If Arsenal successfully finalizes an agreement with Stanway, it would be considered one of the most significant transfers of the January window. The club is actively aiming to strengthen its squad in pursuit of Women’s Super League success, having claimed the Champions League trophy in May, and is working on securing new talent for the upcoming summer season.
